Holy Rare Indie Book, Batman!
A quick look at Amazon’s listing for The Indie Game Development Survival Guide shows prices for *USED* copies starting at $95+. Actual new copies starting at $175.
Seriously? Just cause it went out of print?
Makes me wonder if people can get more from a first printing copy than a second printing copy. You know, for real connoisseurs.
Hmm…I wonder if any copies have sold on eBay… Not that I could see. But, yes, there are listings. 1 listing currently at $1 (almost 3 days left to get your bid in). Another 4 listings at $120 and up (all of them “buy it now”, not auctions).
Wee! I’m collectible! I guess…

Holy crap – dude, I should seriously be selling my copy about now!
Will you get royalties?
No author gets royalties on used book sales. Just the initial sale.
I only have 1 copy of the book left myself, and that’s the first copy sent to me by the publisher. So I won’t be selling it. I sold off or gave away all my free copies (and even another set I bought wholesale) years ago.

Oh, I was under the impression used book sales did fall under royalties. I once talked to a second hand book store and discussed this. I apparently misunderstood her, it’s the fact she sells books in a store not used books that she paid royalties then.
Bookstores don’t pay royalties. Book stores pay publishers / distributors. Publishers pay royalties.
