Dogfooding

Today I (finally) started using The Journal 5 (the project formerly known as “Vee”). After nearly 19 months of development and nearly 7 months of testing, I’m eating my own dogfood.

Overall, it tastes great! 8-) There are a number of features I’ve been wanting to use all year (and one I’m testing with this post; it should work [*]), and now I can.

And, of course, as soon as I went live, before I even swallowed that first mouthful of puppy chow, I was feeling grit in my teeth and spotting little issues that need tweaking. <sigh>

But I’m so close to being done now–and I’m so damn ready to be done–I can’t help but be happy. This is the first “pre-release/damn-near-release-candidate” version of The Journal 5, and it’s looking really good. I’m predicting late August for the full release.

The end is in sight!

[*] And it would’ve worked too–if I had remembered to turn the feature on.
